Cloche Party Outside

I bought this beautiful cloche from, A Gardener's Grate, at Scott's Antique Show in Atlanta. She had a lovely booth.

This is the parsley the monarch butterfly caterpillars have been working on. One year, I picked all the caterpillars off not knowing what they were. So this year, I decided to let them eat my plants. Would you believe I witnessed from the window a beautiful pair of cardinals feasting on the monarch caterpillars? Of course, my camera was not ready with a zoom lens and  I missed a good picture. Maybe they will come back.

While I was playing in the garden with the cloches I remembered a book I have, "Antiques from the Garden". It was interesting to read about cloches. The book just makes you drool over the beautiful antique urns, plant stands and garden benches.
I learned that cloches or bell-glasses, originated in France.

Playing in the cloches was fun. It did make me want at least one more large cloche to group together inside. I do have two baby ones that are so cute! Marty, I am getting crazy about cloches!

I am so excited to participate in Marty's Cloche Party@astrollthrulife. I am a little late but I have been having so much fun viewing all the entries.

  1. Oh I love your cloches. I keep wanting to use one outside, but right now it is so hot it would definitely kill anything. Maybe this winter. I think cloches in the garden are just stunning. They look like you're such a professional gardener to me, which I most certainly am not. lol Love them inside with just about anything in them. Thanks so much for joining the party. They really are so fun to play with. Hugs, Marty

  2. Hi Bonnie,
Your cloches look lovely in the garden protecting your plants, which I guess is what they were originally intended to be used for...but they're just so pretty and versatile the look beautiful anywhere, don't you think? Thank you so much for sharing today. Hope you have a fantabulous weekend.

    Hugs and Smiles,

  15. Bonnie, I was just reviewing my older posts and saw you commented on the sparklers in the ice cream and that your grandkids would love it next year. Do what I do and be sure to get extra sparklers and then put them on their birthday cakes. They LOVE it!

  16. Hello Bonnie: I always have to stop by any blog that has a "Bonnie" attached. And, what a lovely discovery! Your photographs are breathtaking and I look forward to seeing more. I haven't put my cloches outside but I think I'm going to do that. They are striking!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  17. Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by my tomato sandwich post!! We have a huge garden here - lots of tomatoes, peppers and beans ripening about now. Your cloches are beautiful, and you have monarch butterflies at your house?? How lovely, I don't think they come by us - we have lots of yellow and black butterflies, I did a posting on them a few weeks ago. Hope all is well! Ciao, bella!

  18. Your garden is a lovely sight to behold. Things under glass are always lovelier.

  19. Hi, I think your butterfly is a black swallowtail in the picture before your caterpillar. That should be what would hatch if a chrysalis could form. I know those birds like caterpillars! That's why I am always amazed to have a butterfly hatch!

Your cloches look nice in the garden. I have three that I bought at a thrift store (my daughter says I have to stop calling them junque shops!). I've never used them as I rarely get my act together to display anything. Thanks for stopping by! ♥♫

  20. I love cloches, too. I bought a beautiful one in an antique shop in Madison, GA. I use it to cover a little bird's nest with 3 tiny blue eggs in it. (Not real) I've also used it to cover bon bons and other tiny "sweets" on a pedestal crystal cake stand. Love your blog. I would like to find out how to do one, but I think I would spend way too much time on it. MM
