Fall is a time of harvest. I think of apple picking, pumpkins, fall mums, bales of hay, cotton fields white with the harvest, falling leaves and cooler temperatures most of all.
The goldenrod will soon be blooming.
I love to see a field full of bales of freshly cut hay.
We like to bring some of nature inside our homes in the fall and decorate with dried cones, flowers, nuts and the bounty of the fall harvest.
On my tiered tray I placed a mason jar of honey with the honeycomb from the Farmers Market, dried wheat, pinecones, dried indian corn, dried acorns, dried berries from a popcorn tree, dried naturally bleached hydrangeas and fabric pumpkins.
I'm happily awaiting that touch of fall in the air and the trees turning beautiful colors. Have you started decorating for fall? I love the idea of decorating a tiered stand.
Blessings to you today. Living Thankfully, Bonnie

The mums are blooming and the leaves are falling.

The cooler air gets me in the mood to bake. I finally made Ann Drake's apple walnut bread found here and it didn't last long.

On a funny note... this pic was made last Dec 4th. I was ready to decorate for Christmas and couldn't stand to throw away all my pumpkins so I gathered them together for an outside photo. Then I put them deep in the back of my natural area and finally threw them away unchanged in early March. Last winter was extremely mild.

I love where I live and this time of year when the cotton is ready to pick and the fields are so white and pretty. The fields remind me of the huge cotton field next to my grandmother's house when I was a little girl. Wanting to teach us the value of hard work one time my grandmother decided we all should pick some cotton and earn some money. What I thought would be fun was back breaking hard work with ants and gnats everywhere. Wish I remembered how old I was when this happened. I didn't earn enough money to buy an ice cream cone.
My grandmother made this quilt and it came into my mind it would be fun to remember her with a fall table in a cotton field. She has been gone for many years now but she lived to be 98!
Another ride out in the country during a perfect fall day that was so memorable for me can be viewed here.Isn't this a pretty field of cotton? Tell me about any experiences you have had picking cotton. Peanuts are grown in my area of south Alabama also. I've just given myself an idea for a blog post next peanut picking time. They have already been harvested this season.

It's Saturday night and hubby is firing up his green egg. He loves his propane torch. Men do have their toys!
Our simple dinner: grilled veal chops, roasted yukon potatoes, roasted asparagus and marinated mushrooms. Yummy and easy!
Football is pretty special in the south. I must say tonight is a little nerve wracking with Alabama playing LSU. Actually, I am enjoying reading blogs in the bedroom while my better half is intent on the game. I do have it on without sound but like to escape to France reading my French Country Home and in the USA-Savvy Southern Style, Decor to Adore, Home is Where the Boat is, Lulu's Musings, Monica@Texas Ware Fan, Denise at Forest Manor, Essence of Home and in Ireland, Raindrops and Roses and Flowers on my table.
Recently I took a break from blogging and while I was away God richly blessed our family with a new granddaughter named Elise Alexandra Morgan. We love you and are so excited, Elise. Since you live far away we can't wait to see you at Christmas!!!
P. S. I never got to read any blogs because I spent all my time linking up the blogs I mentioned. Most of the ones I mentioned have been very nice to me and I appreciate them so much. I am finally posting this Sunday afternoon. Went to bed thinking Alabama lost the game. Found out this morning they did pull it out.
Joining Seasonal Sundays today. Just found out The Tablescaper lives in the middle of Long Island and has no power. She posted from Target and you can read about her situation in the link above. I am sure I speak for everyone that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Reworked and embellished wreath.
Added feathers, more fruit, berries and ivy.
You can view my old wreath as it was before here.
I am enjoying all the heirloom pumpkins and gourds this fall.
My husband enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit this week since it has turned cooler. It was fun to have treat or treater's tonight.
Sorry, I have been AWOL from my blog. Life has been very hectic. Thinking and praying for all in the storm damaged areas. Can't get you off my mind.
