God Bless America

27 comments

Welcome to a Patriotic Tablescape Blog Hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree @Celebrate and Decorate and Andrea@ Design Morsels.

 As we celebrate the birthday of our country this year our nation has suffered some major catastrophic events beyond our control. It has been a difficult time in our country for the past four months.

Welcome to a Patriotic Tablescape. I dedicate this post to the principles our country was founded on. May we remember them and strive to live our lives reflecting them.
In 1938, as fascism and war threatened Europe, Irving Berlin wrote these words...

While the storm clouds gather, far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance

To a land that's free;

 Let us all be grateful,
For a land so fair,

As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God bless America, Land that I love,

Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God Bless America
My home sweet home.

As we raise our voices in this solemn prayer, I am reminded of the inspired words of Jeremiah in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague, among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

May God Bless America!

Scents in the Garden

23 comments
Gardenias are blooming in my garden and the fragrance is heavenly. I have two varieties in my garden and I like this old variety best because the blooms are large. I have enjoyed doing several arrangements. This one is in an old tarnished bridal basket with added pittosporum greenery.

Gardenias are easy to arrange and in this vase, I used an oasis. When I saw this art deco glass swan vase from the Spence Collection I couldn't wait to cut some gardenias and make an arrangement.
The vase makes a statement all on its own.

I styled it in several spots in my house.

The swan theme got going here.
Do you like gardenias as much as I do? My bridal bouquet was gardenias, as was my mother's and my daughter's bridal bouquets.
Another scent in my garden is a magnolia tree. The blossoms close up at night but in the right light will reopen. They don't last but a couple of days but the fragrance is lovely.
I love to find interesting vases and make arrangements and the best thing is to have flowers to cut right from my garden.
What flowers do you have blooming right now?
