Happy Spring

 "Daffodils"
 by William Wordsworth 1804

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

Our Valentine Supper

Our Valentine Supper

It occurred to me today that my husband asked me on our first date to a Valentine Banquet. Our first kiss was on Valentine's Day 1968! We have been married thirty-nine years.

I love orchids! I don't have a favorite child and it is hard to have a favorite flower but orchids are high on my list.

Transferware plates have been fun to collect. Crystal always catches my eye when I am antiquing. The double candleholder was my mother's. Forgot to put the salt in the candlewicking salt cellars. Also could not find all of my tiny sterling salt spoons. It is hard to see the napkins but my husband brought cut work tablecloths, placemats and napkins for me back from Korea.

My husband lost his dear father last week. I am reflecting on special memories with my sweetheart. We have been sick and stuck inside so a  homemade valentine with a special memory list is my surprise to him. When he saw the table he said,"You mean we are not going to watch sixty minutes and eat off TV trays?"

Aroma of Fresh Baked Bread

Is there anything better than eating a slice of bread just out of the oven slathered with butter? It melts in your mouth. This whole wheat bread is very healthy and delicious. My daughter started milling her own flour from whole wheat about four years ago. She gave us bread so generously for so long we finally broke down out of shame and started making it too.  I did it all at first and now my husband does most of the work. I measure out ingredients and clean up now. His bread is better than mine and we use the same recipe!

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

My mother's crystal from the 1940's is by Fostoria and it is so special to me. I love my crystal from the 70's but it does not compare to Meadow Rose by Fostoria.

Vintage ornaments always draw my eye. I love pretty nostalgic ornaments!

Gardening is a passion of mine and I learned recently how to buy a fresh poinsettia. I am continually amazed that you can goggle anything. I goggled "how to buy a poinsettia" and there are many pointers. Check it out.

Thanksgiving at our house was very special because all our family was together. We sat by the fire pit frequently and ate very well for days.
