Beautiful Southern Fall Day

It has been a gorgeous fall day. All week the weather has been exceptionally nice. I just want to savior each moment! Found out from Mary@Home is Where the Boat Is that the warty pumpkin I wondered  what its name was ( view here) is called a peanut pumpkin. I  am glad to know what it is called.

It's Saturday night and hubby is firing up his green egg. He loves his propane torch. Men do have their toys!

Our simple dinner: grilled veal chops, roasted yukon potatoes, roasted asparagus and marinated mushrooms. Yummy and easy!

Football is pretty special in the south. I must say tonight is a little nerve wracking with Alabama playing LSU. Actually, I am enjoying reading blogs in the bedroom while my better half is intent on the game. I do have it on without sound but like to escape to France reading my French Country Home  and  in the USA-Savvy Southern Style, Decor to Adore, Home is Where the Boat is, Lulu's Musings, Monica@Texas Ware Fan, Denise at Forest Manor, Essence of Home and in Ireland, Raindrops and Roses and Flowers on my table.

I am certainly reflecting on our bountiful blessings of good food, a comfortable home with many amenities and remembering those in the northeast that have lost their homes and enduring great hardship and do not have basic needs. You are so heavy on my heart and in my prayers.

Recently I took a  break from blogging and while I was away God richly blessed our family with a new granddaughter named Elise Alexandra Morgan. We love you and are so excited, Elise. Since you live far away we can't wait to see you at Christmas!!!

P. S. I never got to read any blogs because I spent all my time linking up the blogs I mentioned. Most of the ones I mentioned have been very nice to me and I appreciate them so much. I am finally posting this Sunday afternoon. Went to bed thinking Alabama lost the game. Found out this morning they did pull it out.

Joining Seasonal Sundays today. Just found out The Tablescaper lives in the middle of Long Island and has no power. She posted from Target and you can read about her situation in the link above. I am sure I speak for everyone that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  2. Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!
I like the way you have your pumpkin sitting likes it is on a nest. I purchased pumpkins for the first time. I have a white, orange and a pink one.

  4. If my husband had a green egg to use, he would be enjoying it as much as possible too! I've actually gotten "into" football lately. Shocking! We're a UGA fan. We watch the games every weekend. I hear that AL is undefeated though. That's good for y'all! Thanks for the shout-out about my blog. I'm thrilled to know that I'm one of your favorites. I always look forward to your posts too. Congrats on your newest grandchild too!

  5. Hi Bonnie,

I'm glad to learn that's a peanut pumpkin. Mary at Home Is Where The Boat Is is such a sweetie, and she's so talented and creative. There are so many interesting varieties of pumpkins around these days; they're really fun to decorate with. Your meal looks delicious!!! Those vegetables just happen to be three of my very favorites. :)

I'm so honored that you mentioned me in your blog; may I return the compliment and say that I look forward to reading your blog, and you've always been very sweet to me. Thanks so much for the shout-out; that really makes me feel good. I'm glad Alabama ended up winning the game, and speaking of football, my hubbie is watching in the other room (the Saints and the Eagles). I like football, but three nights a week is a bit much.

Congratulations on your new granddaughter; that's just wonderful!!! I look forward to seeing some really sweet pictures of her at Christmas time. Take care and have a wonderful week!

  6. Bonnie,
Thank you for visiting my blog and your nice comment. I'd forgotten all about that contest and see that alas, I didn't win $2000 or an iPad. C'est la vie.
I'm an AUburn fan but can appreciate your nerve wracking game last week. Your dinner look superbe by the way.

I hope you will drop by and visit Paris with me often.

  7. Hi Bonnie~ Congratulations on your new granddaughter! I know you look forward to seeing her and celebrating her first Christmas!

We've had some gorgeous fall weather lately too and your dinner looks delicious! My hubby has an egg, he usually uses to smoke a pork shoulder but not as a grill. I haven't seen that handy dandy propane torch for starting charcoal...there's a Christmas idea for me.

I'm honored you read me! :) Thanks so much for your visits and comments. I'll look forward to seeing photos of Elise.

  8. I watched a bit of the LSU/Alabama game as I ate a salad at Wendy's somewhere on I-10. Let me tell you, driving from southwest Florida back to Houston was a very long journey, a four audio books one! Needless to say, I didn't have time for much blog stuff on the road, but I am flattered to see my mention in this post. You are one of those cyber friends that I especially appreciate. Thank you.
