Easter Fun

Today, I am joining twenty other bloggers for a Spring/Easter Tablescape Blog Hop sponsored by Rita@Panoply.
Our weather has been beautiful, so I set the table in my garden for the blog hop. Join me as we celebrate spring and Easter.

Thank you, Rita, for all you do organizing the tablescape hops! You do a fabulous job.

White hydrangeas accented with pink carnations were arranged in a vintage basket borrowed from a dear friend and placed on a pastel stripe napkin for the centerpiece.

Spring has arrived in south Alabama. The azaleas, dogwoods, spirea, flowering trees, and  Lady Banks roses are all blooming.
I wish you could all be here and enjoy the beautiful weather in my garden.
Can you see my Pink Ruffle azalea behind the table?
Grace Tea Ware scalloped bunny plates with pretty pastel colors was found at Home Goods. I knew when I saw the bunny plates they would match my Paula Deen aqua plates. I was thankful to find floral napkins at Home Goods too, that brought out all the colors in the plates.

This is a close-up of the Nicole Miller floral napkin with a rattan napkin ring. The napkin ring found at a local gift shop tied all the natural elements of rattan, bamboo, and water hyacinth together.

The sweet pastel hand-tooled real eggs carved with beautiful designs were a birthday gift last year. They are so delicate.

Here is a close-up of the intricately designed eggs. They were such a sweet gift. I placed them in egg cups in several photos.

Natural elements are a major theme unifying this tablescape. Water hyacinth placemats, rattan centerpiece basket, napkin rings, rattan liners for the glasses, and bamboo cutlery are all-natural elements that give great texture to this spring table.

After several days, some of the flowers began to wane. I broke down the centerpiece arrangement and placed it in smaller vases on my kitchen table to enjoy it longer.

"Our Lord has written the promise of Resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf of springtime." Martin Luther.

It was the blue hour outside when I took this picture. I know you are wondering where I live because all our spring flowers arrived about two weeks early this year. Usually, in south Alabama, the azaleas open now and last until the end of the month. We had two weeks in late February and early March with highs in the 80s during the day, so everything bloomed earlier. The blooms are all gone now, and it has turned cooler. Monday night, it is forecast to be a low of 28. I guess this is the cool spell before Easter. Did you know the farmers say if the pecan trees have leafed out, there will not be any more cold weather? They have not leafed out yet. All my hydrangeas are full of leaves which is a concern. But, by Thursday, it is forecast to be a high of 80.

Easter Joy

The sun is shining and the birds are singing. Ah...spring is so beautiful!  What a delightful day to set a table in my garden. I know many of you are still in winter but spring is coming.
Welcome to an Easter blog hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate. Chloe has been our leader for four years. Thank you Chloe for making these hops possible. I was so excited when Chloe asked me to join but at the same time, I was nervous. I am glad I joined and it has been rewarding to meet other bloggers and table stylists. You can find the other stylist's tables at the end of this post and can view them by clicking on the links.

Hobby Lobby had the cutest bunny plates. I bought four and went back for more weeks ago, and they were all gone. I really needed them because my Texas grands surprised me with a visit this week. I checked another nearby town, and they were sold out too.
I loved all the colors on the plate, and this little girl bunny had a pretty flower crown.

It was fun to have so many colors and textures to work with starting with a woven placemat, Bordello Pinheiro cabbage chargers, pink transferware plates in four patterns and three different bunny patterns in salad plates.

After the plate stack was decided on, I remembered a king-size sheet from my mother-in-law's beach house from the '70s to use for a tablecloth. I was so pleased it worked, and the floral napkins that I had even had tulips on them. The wooden green beaded napkin rings made me happy too.  I'm always looking for napkin rings but these are an area I could improve on. I am so sorry Pier I and World Markets closed in our area.

A white wicker basket holds pink and white hydrangeas, pink tulips, and daisies. It just looked like Easter to me.
All this week, with the lovely spring weather, I have been thinking about the Monet quote, " I must have flowers always and always." Claude Monet.
The pink vintage-inspired embossed glassware by Pioneer woman has such a lovely shape with
the fluted foot.

The rabbit salt and pepper shakers I have had since my kids were little. I was so glad to have my grandchildren from Texas and north Alabama visit. I loved having children here to use my Easter things, and the kids enjoyed them.

Bunnies, eggs, and spring flowers are fun, and we all have fond memories from past Easter seasons, but Easter is really about the celebration of the resurrection of our Savior, who gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins. This old hymn says what I feel in my heart.

Easter Tea in the Garden

Join me in the garden for an Easter tea. There is birdsong, a slight breeze, and beautiful sunshine. I just received a surprise gift of the beautiful flowers you see. They were perfect for the Easter Tablescape Blog Hop today sponsored by Chloe @Celebrate and Decorate.

I had planned all along to use this tea set for my Easter tablescape. My husband's aunt passed this tea set down to me several years ago.(See former post with this tea set here) I dearly love to use it. However, I had no idea what flowers I could use.

Then voila! A friend offered me a bucket of flowers she rescued from being thrown away from an antique show. Check out my friend Sarah, on Instagram@ Spencecollection and show her some love there. She sells lovely antiques.

There were two shades of long stem roses and white hydrangeas. The bridal wreath is from my garden. I had a great time deciding on a container and setting the table. I've never had the luxury of arranging that many flowers!

"But indeed I would rather have nothing but tea." Jane Austin

The little white basket is my childhood Easter basket. My sister and I had matching baskets. I wouldn't take anything for this little basket. So many precious memories.

Please serve yourself a meringue. I'll pour you a cup of tea and we can have a nice chat!

The weather is so pleasant!
Imagine the lovely fragrance of these flowers. Pretty fragrances feed my soul!

But wait, there is more. Remember me telling you I'd never had the luxury of arranging so many roses. I was able to fill another watering can full of those gorgeous roses.

I've had a delightful morning in the garden.

The birds were delightfully singing and I saw a couple of early butterflies gliding by. So, I decided to capture the scene on video. For me, it is always intimidating to talk on a video. It will be on my Instagram story if it doesn't load here properly.

Amid the turmoil and fear with the effects of the Corona Virus, we all need assurance and trust. As I spent a pleasant morning in my garden styling this table I was not alone. This table was done weeks ago just as news of the virus spreading to New York was released. The words to this dear old hymn comforted me.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Stay safe and healthy. Prayers for those affected by the virus, our government leaders and first responders. May God heal, protect, comfort us and give us great wisdom.

Celebrating Easter

Welcome to an Easter Tablescape Blog Hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree @Celebrate and Decorate. The blog hop schedule and links to the participants are available at the end of this post. Chloe started these tablescape hops in 2016. Thank you Chloe, for all the hard work you do organizing these hops.

My childhood memories of Easter include straw Easter baskets filled with green paper straw and dyed Easter eggs, early sunrise services, starched stand out dresses, and new white Sunday shoes with lacy socks and sometimes a special hat.
Later as I grew older I came to appreciate the true meaning of Easter - the cross and the empty tomb.

The flowers growing around Easter in our state of Alabama are azaleas of various varieties and colors, dogwoods, and irises. It was a visit down memory lane planning my Easter tablescape using memorable flowers.
I  love using my mother's ceramic rabbits which she painted herself. I treasure them along with my fond memories since my parents died over 35 years ago.

I was pleased to find some dogwoods in the woods near my home and azaleas from a neighbor since mine bloomed early. It is special for me to use the vase for the centerpiece that was a gift from my friend who passed away in early January. It is hard to see, but  I also have a few sprigs of bridal wreath in the arrangement. They bloomed early this year also.

I remember walks with my parents every year at Easter going to a particular spot in the woods to pick wild violets.  It was a treat to find ones with velvet petals. It was like finding the golden egg. I would consider my tablescape perfect if I could have a nosegay of wild violets on my table. But the memory and sharing that with you will have to suffice.

My Franciscan Platinum Renaissance wedding china goes well with the spring garden flowers. The floral napkins complement the floral arrangement and little egg cups holding Easter eggs are placed at each place setting.
Green Depression glass sherbets hold raspberry sherbet garnished with sprigs of mint from my garden.

This view shows off the new abstract painting my daughter painted for me. (amschnorrenberg_art) I just love it!

I have fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit gracing my mother's Easter table. I think they have so much personality. Mr. Rabbit's neon green coat was very stylish in the '70s!
This picture also has a good shot of the etched crystal glasses that were my father-in-law's aunt's. I believe they are Austrian.
Are family pieces special to you? They are to me.

Azaleas not only have pretty spring colors but have a lovely aroma also.
The sherbet started melting on me as the light was fading so there was no time to do the sherbet over for pictures.

Wishing you a blessed Easter. I've been singing the chorus to the hymn "At the Cross "as I set this table. The words go like this.....At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, and the burden of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day!
