Fall Vibes

I'm glad you joined me today for the Welcome Fall Tablescape Blog hop.
This blog hop is sponsored by Rita @Panoply We appreciate all of Rita's work and organization in keeping this group together.

It is hard to believe that fall is on the way soon. It is slower to feel like fall in the deep south because it is still very warm here.
This vintage Provencal tablecloth was bought in Provence, in 1997, by my mother-in-law.

I deliberately chose to keep the table simple without chargers or placemats to be able to view the design of the

The mixed floral arrangement continues to evolve as the lilies have not all opened. Sunflowers, limelight, lilies, Gerber daises, green ball dianthus, and petite roses make up the floral centerpiece.

The yellow plates and bowls were my grandmother's and are Riveria by Homer Laughlin made in the '30s and '40s. Blue goblets and napkins go with the yellow plates for a blue and yellow fall vibe. I love the small plates and bowls. Perfect for a fall alfresco lunch.

Pitchers are fun to use as vases. This one was just the right size and color. On the bottom of the vase, it says handpainted in Italy. Looking closely, you can see small leaves, apples, and pears that give a nod to fall.

What food would you serve for a fall alfresco lunch?

I am starting to dream of fall and thinking of pumpkin recipes. By the way, last year, it was hard to find canned pumpkin, so I bought some yesterday.
Dreaming of fall, I looked up some fall quotes to share.🍂🍁🍂

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, glittering from the autumn tree." Emily Bronte

" The heat of autumn is different from the heat of summer. One ripens the apples, the other turns them to cider." Jane Hirshfield

"I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkins and crisp sunburnt leaves."
Ann Drake

Do you call the season autumn or fall?

  1. Good Morning Bonnie, What a beautiful variation of your Provence table with your sunflowers from yesterday! Your MIL’s tablecloth is too pretty to cover with chargers and placemats. I love the mix of your floral material in pretty pitcher as a vase. The Gerberas add such a happy and bright pop of pink to mix with the lilies, roses, stock, sunflowers and hydrangeas! Your garden is looking so green and lush! We have had so much rain we are soggy, with 2 ½ inches yesterday and more to come this week. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you, Happy Tuesday. ♥

  2. Lovely sunflowers, and your French theme is lovely.

  3. Wonderful flowers arrangement and cheerful table! Hugs and blessings.

  4. Good morning, Bonnie. I love seeing the tablecloth in its entirety, it is stunning. What a treasure to enjoy from your beloved mother-in-law. The floral arrangement is so pretty and cheery with its lovely mix of flowers. Blue and yellow is always a favorite color combo, and perfectly Provençal. Your garden is immaculate, beautiful, and lush. I can tell you have had more rain than we have. It is always a pleasure to hop with you. Happy Tuesday!

  5. The tablecloth is the star of this show! Sweet gift from your MIL. The centerpiece is stunning and the pitcher caught my eye right away. Love the yellow dishes, so bright and cheery and your setting in your yard is amazing - Happy Fall!

  6. Your tablecloth is so lovely! The pitcher is perfect with it! Enjoy!

  7. You've done a really nice job of changing things a bit from Monday Morning Blooms into this lovely fall tablescape, Bonnie. Your garden is just beautiful, and I can see the success you had in planting new grass. The pitcher is perfect for the place settings. You are fortunate to have been handed down your mother-in-law's and grandmother's things. I would very much love to join you and enjoy a simple autumn (I use both terms) lunch of figs, cheese, crackers, and perhaps some fruit. A pumpkin bread and iced tea still work for me through September, anyway. Though the mornings are cool, the humidity is still present.

  8. Bonnie, I love your cheerful blue and yellow color palette and your garden is beautiful! Pinning! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  9. Beautiful table, love the variation from yesterday's post. That tablecloth is so beautiful, such a treasure. The pitcher is so lovely, love that design. A beautiful place to enjoy a simple breakfast or lunch. Always a pleasure hopping along with you.

  10. I tend to call the season autumn, but sometimes I use the word fall! I love your table: your tablecloth is so pretty, Bonnie! The setting couldn't be any more beautiful. I always enjoy your posts featuring your garden. Your centerpiece with the jug and flowers ties everything together so nicely. I hope you're having a lovely end of summer, and that your autumn is full of blue skies and sunshine!

  11. I am just crazy over your tablecloth from Provence Bonnie, it is so stunning! As is your beautiful garden setting! The cobalt napkins remind me of how blue the sky can be in the Fall. The pretty blue checked pitcher is lovely full of the sunflower and flower mix, such a delightful table to linger over a special meal~

  12. Bonnie, that tablecloth is just fabulous! It's exactly what I was hoping to find and bring home had our June Provence cruise taken place. And, the cool blue and sunny yellow create a refreshing table setting for hot Sept temperatures. The pretty pitcher looks like it was made to go with the tablecloth! Wish I had your talent for floral arranging!

  13. What a beautiful table and the setting in your garden is lovely. It reminds me of all the stunning French country table settings pics that are in my scrapbook. Blue and yellow are so pretty together and I agree that you don't need placemats, etc as your table cloth is so bright and colorful on it's own. I could sit under your shade trees at your table and talk for hours. We could munch on glazed petit fours, chicken salad in individual pate a choux and throw in sweet tea from the deep south. Happy Autumn (over Fall) to you and yours.

  14. Hi Bonnie,

Wow, your centerpiece is gorgeous!! I love the colorful flowers and the pitcher is so pretty. Your whole table looks very cheerful for late summer/early fall. My mom really likes Homer Laughlin dishes; she has about three different patterns. Your tablecloth is lovely, Bonnie. I have a provençal tablecloth that my mother-in-law brought me from France several years ago. I also have a summer one that

  15. Sorry. I hit a wrong key, and my comment got published before I was finished. ;D Anyway, your table turned out great, Bonnie. I hope you're doing well and have a great week! Oh, I call it fall or autumn, depending on my mood that day.

  16. Bonnie, before I even scrolled down I just knew that was a French tablecloth! This is the epitome of summer in Provence! I love that you allowed that gorgeous tablecloth to be the star of this lovely tablescape! What perfect dishes you have. I think I would serve a beautiful salad of mixed greens and strawberries, red onions and poppy seed dressing. Some delicious French brie and wonderful French bread or croissants. What do you think? You set the table, I will bring the food!

  17. Don't those Provencal colors just scream "AUTUMN!!!" It's so pretty, Bonnie -- I love that tablecloth and it's perfect with your dishes and the sunflowers. It's gorgeous. Happy week to you!

  18. Bonnie, your provencal linen is certainly a star. Love the bright blue and yellow and how you have added in more of the same colors in other details. Your garden is so lush and inviting. I'd want to enjoy every meal in this lovely space. Happy Autumn, my friend!

  19. Your table setting is so much a reminder of trips to France. I'm sure it brings many wonderful family memories each time you use it. The simple yellow china works perfectly with the details in the tablecloth. Adding those gorgeous blooms is the exact touch it needed. The garden is a perfect setting for this lovely tablescape. Happy Fall!

  20. Oh my goodness Bonnie!! This table is such a treat for the eyes!! I love love love your tablecloth!!! I have never been to France and have no idea what would be considered Provençal- I just think it is gorgeous!! And the way you have complimented it by not going overboard with the place settings is perfect. Your pitcher and fabulous mix of bright flowers is divine!! Love it all! Happy fall🍂🍁🍂

  21. Bonnie, your gardens are such a beautiful and lush setting for your table setting. The Provence theme with it's colors really pop here. As usual your attention to detail is obvious. The colors in the floral centerpiece and the vessel. Happy September......

  22. Bonnie, the tablecloth is filled with happy fall colors. Letting it standout was a wise choice. And showing us photos of your yard is really wonderful. It is so green and pretty. That is something I hope to achieve in my yard - eventually (Lord willing) :)
    Hugs and happy fall,

  23. Good morning, Bonnie. I do love the tablecloth and your lovely table setting. I am a great fan of how you have set the table, minus chargers and placemats. Often, I feel there is so much on a table that it is hard to see the flowers or enjoy the company of others. And, your centerpiece is gorgeous as is your garden. Have a lovely weekend!

  24. Bonnie, what a lovely setting. The shade makes it look cooler. You are so lucky to have the beautiful tablecloth. The pitcher of flowers is perfect for your centerpiece. Those yellow dishes have a wow factor.

  25. I love the saturated colors in your table setting! The hues are equally strong and play off each other so well. In my mind, you can never go wrong with blue and the deep yellows are perfect with it. The tablecloth from Provence is striking and was seemingly made for your grandmother's dishes! The sunflowers and daisies are cheerfully guiding the way!
