Merry and Bright

Happy Tuesday! It is beginning to look like Christmas at my home. Today, I am joining twenty table stylists for a Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop.

Thanks to Rita@Panoply for organizing this blog hop. Rita has recently moved into a new home and hosted two blog hops close together. Kudos to Rita and all she has accomplished.

Please click on the links to all the table stylists at the end of this post. Each table stylist and blogger has a unique style of her own and you will be inspired.

As I thought about what direction to go in for my tablescape, I knew I wanted to use this vintage tablecloth that belonged to my Mother-in-love.  It sparks beautiful memories for me and is merry and bright.

Here is the same tablecloth in 2016 with a more formal look.
To view the entire post click here.

My plate stack consists of Christmas Tree plates by Spode, Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage ware plates, and Robert Stanley plaid chargers. Sterling flatware is Buttercup by Gorham and the napkin rings are handstitched needlepoint by my MIL. The napkin rings are snowmen, wreaths, Santas, and Christmas trees. Red napkins and goblets complete the place setting.

Tall red spiral candles in crystal candlesticks flank the centerpiece. An English ironstone vegetable dish was selected as a container for the flowers and placed on a contemporary red lacquered tray. The ironstone lidded dish was bought some years back and has looked pretty in a cabinet. This is the first time I have used it and I love its size for a flower arrangement. As I arranged the flowers, I remembered I bought the ironstone piece at a holiday bazaar from a blogger you might know, Marian Parsons, aka Miss Mustard Seed.

For the centerpiece, I choose red carnations and added pittosporum greenery cut from my garden. Variegated Pittosporum is a great scrub for color in your garden and is useful for flower arranging.
Martha Stewart says when conditioning carnations be sure to make your cut just above one of the nodes that run up the flower's stalk. This will allow the stem to more easily draw the water it needs.

Do you notice anything here besides seeing a close-up of the Christmas tree napkin ring? Yes, the charger is not plaid. I went back to the store to buy more chargers and they had sold out!!! Procrastination does not pay!

After I loaded all the pictures I started thinking the red tray under the flower arrangement was too harsh. This white platter stands out less. What do you think?

Sometimes you know it needs something but you can't decide.

Here, I added a runner! I need to leave well enough alone!

Wishing each of you a very Merry Christmas.

✨Blessings to you and your families this Christmas season.🎄

A Candlelight Christmas Dinner

It's Christmastime, the wreaths are hung, the tree is decorated, the table is set for a special dinner and you are invited.
Welcome to a Christmas Tablescape blog hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree@celebrateanddecorate. There are many talented tablescapers participating in this blog hop. For your inspiration, the blog hop  schedule is listed at the bottom of this post.

My color scheme is red, white and gold. I've selected a family china pattern placed on gold chargers, crystal goblets, gold flatware, and crystal candlesticks.  A crystal etched bowl holds white hydrangeas for the centerpiece.
Hopefully, the soothing colors, the simplicity of the dishes,  and the warmth of the candlelight will not distract from the beautiful faces sitting around the table.

Are you excited when you receive an invitation to a Christmas dinner party?  I certainly am.

I love having small dinner parties with friends. Getting dressed up and anticipating a lovely evening with good food and being with friends is my kind of evening.

My table seats 12-14 but I prefer intimate dinner parties where you can really visit and have time for everyone to share.

Table elements include:
Eschenbach China-Bavaria, Tablecloth and Napkins-Waterford Linens- Home Goods, Crystal Goblets-Gorham, Gold flatware-Hobby Lobby

The warmth of candlelight, pretty Christmas music in the background, laughter from friends, and memories shared can't be beaten.
I hope the Christmas tablescapes from this blog hop (Schedule is listed below)will inspire you to host a Christmas event and enjoy your friends or family.

Thank you, dear readers, for your friendship. Thank you for your encouragement and inspiration.
May the joy of Christmas fill your heart. ❤️

⭐️ For God so loved the world, that He gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Merry Christmas🎄

Merry Christmas Tablescape

Merry Christmas everyone! It's beginning to feel like Christmas even in the deep south. It's cold enough to light a fire in the fireplace and roast marshmallows in the fire pit. We can wear our sweaters and coats today but it may be 70 degrees next week.
But we can get out our Christmas dishes and set a Christmas table. Today, I am using my Spode Christmas china in my kitchen with a table set for four.
I don't know about you but setting my tables with my Christmas china jump starts all my decorating.

I had a vision for the flowers I wanted to use but could not be satisfied with any of my vases. Then I remembered my Christmas card basket and decided that could be my flower container. And... it said just what I wanted to say to you....Merry Christmas!

The rattan basket repeated the rattan on the chargers.

The flour sack runner was purchased this fall at the Country Living Fair in Atlanta. I like the color and texture it adds.
My Christmas tree cookies are a family tradition and the one year I didn't make them I got in trouble. My original thought after putting the cookies on a Fitz and Floyd plate was I needed a candy cane vase but did not have any luck finding one.

Needlepoint napkin rings with Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths were made by my husband's mother. Plaid napkins show them off I think.

The fragrance from the lilies about to open will be nice in a few days.
I am doing a program at my Garden Club next week on tablescapes. I will also be sharing another Christmas tablescape next Wednesday as I participate in a tablescape blog hop.

Lenox green goblets were found at an estate sale. This is the first time I've used them.

Honestly, the container I needed for the flowers was right under my nose.... and it repeated the needlepoint theme as well as the rattan pieces.
I always enjoy using my theme salt and pepper shakers if you remember the pilgrim ones I used at Thanksgiving. The kissing Mr. and Mrs. Claus salt and pepper shakers have been around since our children were small. The grandchildren like them now.

🎄Merry Christmas from my kitchen to yours.

Boughs of Holly Tablescape

Hello and welcome to my home as I join a group of bloggers for a Holiday Tablescape Blog hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree @Celebrate and Decorate. At the bottom of this post are links to the other wonderful tablescapes for your inspiration.

Christmas evokes many memories of faith, family and friends, and for me setting a festive Christmas tablescape begins my holiday decorating.

I set a formal table today using my Lenox Holiday china with all formal elements.  I love the drama of gold, elegant crystal, a touch of glitz and candlelight.

Lenox Holiday was introduced in 1974 and became an instant classic.

I  wish I could remember when  I began collecting the Holiday pattern.  For a number of years, all my family gave me pieces of this china for Christmas and birthdays.

The lovely boughs of holly that entwine the border of the plates, remind me of the old Christmas carol, Deck the Halls.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa,la,la,la,la, la, la,la la. Tis the season to be jolly, Fa,la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la.

Don we now our gay apparel, Fa,la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la.
Troll the ancient Yuletide carol, Fa,la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la. (Just in case you can't remember the lyrics, LOL!)

The song captures my festive mood and tablescape.

I adore this vintage tablecloth that graced my dear mother-in-law's table for many years.

To me, traditional red and green with gold accents has timeless elegance.

For the centerpiece, I used a mirrored table runner  embellished with a scalloped crystal bowl filled with various textures and sizes of red Christmas ornaments. On each side of the bowl are crystal candlesticks with red candles and sparkled gold Christmas trees.

Resource list:
Plates- Lenox Holiday
Silverware- Buttercup by Gorham
Glassware- Gorham
Crystal bowl- Waterford
Crystal Candlesticks- Waterford
Tablecloth- Vintage
Gold Christmas Trees- Gift shop
Gold chargers- Wal Mart
Napkins rings- Pier 1
