A Summer Luncheon

High school classmates gathered in my home recently for a summer luncheon. Everyone brought a dish and we enjoyed a delicious meal together and great fellowship.
I am so thankful my hydrangeas bloomed this year. These lush new blooms take my breath away.
The flower colors inspired me to use my purple stemware and blue and white pottery dishes. You can view another tablescape with these dishes and stemware here. I usually take many more shots of the table but I was quite busy with the flower arranging not just for the table but throughout the house.

This is my favorite time of year to entertain when I can cut flowers from my garden and fill the house with arrangements.

Three square vases full of blooms in varying shades sitting on mirrored tiles were the centerpiece.

I had a great time making seven arrangements. It has been such a blessing to me to have blooms  to cut this year in my garden since it has been slim pickins the last few years.
A simple white pitcher filled with blue hydrangeas on the  kitchen island.
Small arrangement in a mason jar.

The aqua flowers on the tole tray were the inspiration for using the aqua mason jar as a vase on the kitchen buffet.
Guest bathroom with shades of pink and lavender.

The master bath rated an arrangement too.
Are you doing any summer entertaining? Do you like to make flower arrangements? Hydrangeas make it easy.

Nothing like a pot luck meal!
I am thankful for these high school friends.

  1. Bonnie your hydrangeas are beautiful. I love the setting you have. I only have one hydrangea and it bloomed this year. Did not last year. It is beautiful. I want to get more to plant now. I know that your time of fellowship with your friends was sweet. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. Oh Bonnie your hydrangeas are indeed beautiful. It is such a pleasure to have flowers in the garden to cut. I love your square vases on the mirror tiles, so perfect for a summer luncheon. Using the blue and white pottery and purple stems and your table looks like summer. I love the little mason jar and the pretty pop of hydrangea color on the buffet. I'm sure your guests enjoyed everyone of your hydrangeas arrangements. So did I and I also enjoyed seeing little peeks of your gorgeous home. Have a wonderful day……...

  10. Hydrangeas do make a table beautiful. I can't wait until mine bloom. Right now it's all about rhododendrons, soon to be followed by peonies. You are lucky to be close enough to old friends to have such a get together.

  17. Bonnie, You've captured the hydrangea shades perfectly in your beautiful table!! And your hydrangeas are perfect. You must have enjoyed tucking them everywhere in the house and I love the way you were inspired by the decor to add the hydrangeas in each space. I can't wait for mine to bloom this year! Seems like this is the year for them all to come back to life. I hope mine are as abundant as yours have been! Linda
