Making Things Bright

A recycled bow with greenery from the yard and I didn't spend a dime.
Nadina berries and their foliage is a quick and free decoration too.

Glasses bought in 1971! I still LOVE THEM!

 A little bokeh!

I think the paperwhites will be timed well this Christmas.

These little mugs make me smile! They have so much personality.

My husband loves to drink out of them.

Our little fire pit is such a pleasure to sit down most evenings  before dinner relax and catch  up on our days. A stemming mug of hot chocolate sounds good about now!

Sometimes there is plenty of brightness around us and we are not seeing it. This season I am aspiring to fill my mind and mediate on things, true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst; the beautiful not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. 1. Well said, Bonnie! You are so right that we should focus on the good things, especially during this wonderful season of the year.

Your photography in this post is beautiful, Bonnie -- great job with the bokeh effect!! I love the lantern in the first photo; it looks so classic with the pretty bow and ivy trailing down. You have a real knack for that kind of thing. We have Nandina bushes too, and I love to decorate with the berries at Christmas.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful Christmas images, Bonnie! I'm SO sorry I'm behind in visiting you, and I really appreciate your kind comments on my recent posts. I haven't had a chance to visit anyone. I'm just about to finish the biggest part of my de-cluttering project, and we're bringing our trees into the house later today. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

    Warm hugs to you,

    Denise

  2. Lovely! I sure miss nandina. Our winters are too cold for it to survive. It and magnolia leaves were our primary Christmas decor in Charleston. Our decorating was early this year as we have a lot of company coming for our daughter-in-law's mid-December graduation. She's getting her PhD from Purdue on December 15th!!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  8. You bought those glasses way back in the 70s??!?!?!! They look so great!!! You've done a great job of maintaining them over the last 40+ years!!! I love all the natural touches to your outdoor decorating, especially that profusion of nandina berries! What I wouldn't give for a few of those bushes from which to clip, clip, clip!!!
